Mother Nature played nice with the racers at the Southern New Mexico Speedway as a light sprinkle and heavy dark clouds crossed the race track minutes before the pit meeting. The July 22nd edition at the Southern New Mexico Speedway featured the Lucas Oil POWRi WAR 305 Winged Sprint Cars, Jack Key Auto Group USRA X-Mods, Claimers, Mini Sprints, and the Sun Valley Hardware USRA Stock Cars.

Thirteen Claimers checked in for battle calling for a fifteen lap main event. Rudy Tarin the III started on the pole and at the start Tarin was gone. Tarin would lead the opening three laps until Jonathan Mitchell closed in quickly after starting seventh and would snatch the lead on lap four. Lincoln McCoy would battle Tarin for the runner up position until the mr13 of Rudy Tarin the III blew up turning into a fireball out of turn two! After the red flag Mitchell would lead the way and almost spun out it turn two, but managed to save it with McCoy closing in quickly! Lincoln McCoy would lead the following lap, but Jonathan Mitchell didn't approve of it as he would put the pedal to the floorboard and jump back to the lead the next lap and take his Rio Valley Bio Fuels number eight Claimer to victory lane.

Jonathan Mitchell won the Claimer feature.

It was short and sweet one for the Mini Sprints as seven cars checked in calling for a fifteen lap feature. Melissa Gorham would lead the feature from flag to flag with no trouble as it was a caution free feature with drivers spreading out and going fast. Gorham picks up another victory with the Mini Sprints.

Melissa Gorham won the Mini-Sprint feature.

A stellar Sun Valley Hardware USRA Stock Car main took place before they battle for the big five thousand dollars next weekend. Sixteen USRA Stock Cars checked in making it a twenty lap main event. Josh Reynolds started on the pole and gave the front runners a run for their money tonight as he lead the first eight laps until a caution flew for debris in turn two. Another caution would fly right away for Victor Colobrio stopped in turn two. At the restart Pete Vargas had a very good restart jumping to the lead! Vargas couldn't escape easily tonight as Josh Reynolds and Bryan Benit would make it three wide for the lead! Donovan Flores would then show up to the party on lap twelve after starting eleventh. By lap thirteen Flores split the whole gang up and got to runner-up. Pete Vargas was on a rail as he would hold off Flores for three laps until a two caution era came around. On the restart with five laps to go Vargas would continue to show the way with Flores following. They would shave off two laps until the final caution flew with three to go! Flores would show Vargas some sheet metal, but Vargas would hold his ground. On the final lap they drag raced down the back straightaway going head to head in three and four and Donovan Flores would pull a trick out of the hat and pick up the win on a photo finish!

Donovan Flores won the Sun Valley Hardware USRA Stock Car feature.

A full twenty-four Jack Key Auto Group USRA X-Mod field on hand called for a great twenty-five lap feature. Justin Allen started his night strong from third to win in his heat race, and kicked off the X-Mod main event by leading the first three laps until a caution flew for Gregory Gorham in turn four. Allen would continue to lead until a caution flew on lap five for John Carney Sr in turn one. Fito Gallardo who started eleventh would jump to the lead on the restart! Justin Allen didn't let Gallardo run away quickly as he side stepped him and got up on the wheel of his his thirty-three machine. They went side by side for the lead for four laps until Fito Gallardo did a veteran move on Allen and shot high in turn two killing Allen's momentum allowing him to run away! Fito Gallardo was gone, but his lead would go away as a caution flew on lap twelve for Don Parra spun in turn two. At the green Gallardo had company. Jimmy Ray was knocking on the door and Christy Barnett in third! Three laps later a caution flew again and this time for the 44 of "no-Mercy" as she hit the infield tire in turns three and four. On the restart Fito Gallardo was able to run away as Justin Allen challenged Jimmy Ray for runner-up. Four laps later a caution flew again. Jimmy Ray would hold off Allen for second on the restart allowing him to get to work on Gallardo for the lead. One more caution flew with three laps to go and it was game on from there. Jimmy Ray would give Gallardo some worries as he would make it a side by side battle for the lead! Jimmy was strong off of two, but Gallardo would win the battles off of turn four. Jimmy would take the lead at the white flag. Fans hopped off their seat as Gallardo and Ray went side by side coming to the checker and Fito Gallardo would hold Jimmy Ray off for the Jack Key Auto Group USRA X_Mod feature win in a close one!

Fito Gallardo won the Jack Key Auto Group USRA X-Mod feature.

The seventeen car, twenty-five lap feature for the Lucas Oil POWRi 305 Winged Sprint Cars was an outstanding one as Lorne Wofford established the front row with Robert Herrera. At the start Lorne Wofford took off with Rick Ziehl jumping to the runner-up position quickly. On lap three Wofford had a straightaway lead on Ziehl. By lap nine "the Real Deal" had cut it down to a half straightaway lead. Two laps later Rick Ziehl would show the way!! Lorne Wofford was then alarmed and would gas up his eighteen machine back to the lead. It was Wofford and Ziehl going side by side with lapped traffic coming into play. Ten laps later with five laps to go it became slide job city between both drivers. The fans would go nuts! Ziehl would get the lead then Wofford would get the lead with both drivers slicing and dicing through lapped traffic! It was a close one, but Lorne Wofford would hold off the 20z of Ziehl to pick up a hard earned win! The caution free feature allowed Wes Wofford to finish third and how about Jett Carney finishing fourth!

Lorne Wofford won the Lucas Oil POWRi WAR Sprint Car Series feature.
