The weekly racing series continued at the Southern New Mexico Speedway with 31 Rancho Milagro USRA Modifieds checking in. The Body Works Super Trucks, Shaw Trucking DIRTcar Late Models, Casa Nissan Legends of the Southwest and Sun Valley Hardware USRA Stock Cars joined the action on this beautiful May 20, 2017.

The Body Works Super Trucks have been killing it so far into 2017 as they stole the show two weeks ago, and tonight brought the action to the house again. Fourteen Super Trucks checked in calling for a 20-lap main event. Russell Allen lead the first lap until a caution flew for Sherman Barnett in turns one and two. Lap two Allen kept the lead, but Walton Kyle Sr. made it three wide to jump into second. One lap later it became the Kyle show. A caution then flew on lap three for Devon Smith in turn two. At the restart Kyle was gone until a caution flew on lap eight. This caution allowed Mike Garcia and Dave Deetz to battle for the lead at the restart. Kyle, Deetz and Garcia went three wide for the lead! Deetz would win the battle and wouldn't have to worry about Kyle and Garcia after they both went to the back on lap 13 for clashing on the front straight-away. Kyle shoved Garcia into the wall, forcing Garcia to stop with a right rear flat tire. A caution flew and it was charged on Kyle, and Garcia went to the back for changing a tire. On the restart, Deetz took off but Lloyd Duffey was super silent all night after finishing fifth in his heat race and starting dead last in 14th all of a sudden found himself challenging Deetz for the lead. Lap 16 Duffey would drive around Deetz and drove it to the white flag until a caution flew! The drivers had one lap to battle it out, but it didn't stop Duffey from winning The Body Works Super Trucks main event from the dead last 14th starting position.

Lloyd Duffey won the Body Works Super Truck feature.

Fito Gallardo dominated the Shaw Trucking DIRTcar Late Model main event tonight with 11 drivers checking in. Gallardo started on the pole with Javier Zapin Jr. and was gone at the start of the 20-lap main event. The battle was Jake Gallardo and Jonathon Ortega driving through the field as they started in row four. Ortega got to second on lap seven with Jake Gallardo trying to get around him. A good battle took place behind them for fourth between Xavier Ortega and Bumper Jones. Jake Gallardo would get around Jonathon Ortega, but it was too late as Fito Gallardo won by half a race track in tonight's caution-free main event.

Fito Gallardo won the Shaw Trucking DIRTcar Late Model feature.

Dylan Harris picks up another Casa Nissan Legends Car main event win at the Southern New Mexico Speedway. Seventeen Legends called for a fun 20-lap main event as Tyler Beiter led the first two laps until Cooper Guffey found his way around Beiter for the lead. A caution flew on lap four and Harris would steal the lead on the restart. Harris never looked back and drove away from the field and survived three cautions late in the race to win the Casa Nissan Legends of the Southwest main event.

Dylan Harris won the Casa Nissan Legends Car feature.

Donavon Flores visits victory lane again in the Sun Valley Hardware USRA Stock Car division in tonight's 20-lap feature. Jed Smith kicked the show off as he lead the first two laps with "The Las Cruces Bullet" Zach McCoy snatching the lead on lap three followed by a caution. Jaime Torres and Nathan Smith clashed in turns one and two drawing the yellow. On the restart McCoy led the following lap with Victor Colobrio making it a side-by-side battle for the lead! Colobrio would take the lead and hang on to it for two laps until Flores came and took it from him. Flores would lead three laps followed by a caution for debris on the back straight-away. At the restart "Fireball" took off.  McCoy gave it his all and would run away with second as Torres battled Colobrio for third. At the end it was smiles for Flores as he picks up the Sun Valley Hardware USRA Stock Car main event win.

Donavon Flores won the Sun Valley Hardware USRA Stock Car feature.

Thirty-one Rancho Milagro USRA Modifieds checked in calling for a B-Main! The drivers brought the energy tonight as the 25-lap main event was a stellar one. Bumper Jones started on the pole with Austin Adams to his outside. At the green Jones launched like a rocket and pulled away quickly from the field. On lap three a caution flew for Carlos Ahumada Jr. on top of turns one and two. Jones had outstanding restarts tonight as he hit his mark in every single start out of corner number four. Jones led a lap until another caution flew for Roger Owens in turn one. At the restart Jones absolutely took off leaving Adams and Todd Harper battling for runner-up. Five laps after the restart Jones worked his way to a whole straight-away lead. One lap later the gap went away as Ricardo Olague Jr. drew the yellow for stopping on the bottom of turn four. It was a caution-free race after that and yet again Jones took off with another perfect restart.

"I kept looking at the scoreboard and saw the G17 (Fito Gallardo) getting closer, and I knew he was behind me," said Jones.

Sure enough, two laps after the restart on lap 11, Gallardo worked his way into third after starting 13th! Lap 14 Gallardo was one-tenth of a second faster then Jones. Lap 17 Gallardo was now three-tenths of a second faster than Jones as lapped traffic became a factor. Jones was married to the top of the Southern New Mexico Speedway as Gallardo worked the bottom and then the middle.

"Bumper shot me there in turn two," said Gallardo.

Jones played good defense on the closing laps as he forced Gallardo to go low and lose speed in turn two. Jones would jump back to the top as Dusty Riggs was about to go a lap down with the leaders coming fast! Jones didn't waste any time as two lapped cars blocked Gallardo on the bottom. At the end, Gallardo dolphin-dived it coming out of turn four coming to the checkered flag with Jones on the outside! It was a photo-finish and transponders, plus an actual photo-finish picture from Classick MotorArt proved that Jones won by a hair in an outstanding finish! Jones will go back-to-back in the Rancho Milagro USRA Modified division.

Bumper Jones won the Rancho Milagro USRA Modified feature.
