C.J. Hulsey won the Border International 305 Winged Sprint Car feature.

Its race day at the Southern New Mexico Speedway and things are about to come alive! The Border International truck 305 winged sprints have come to play and boy did it get wild. The jack Key Nissan X-Mods, Sun Valley Hardware USRA street stocks, Shaw Trucking Late models and the claimers also joined the Sprints tonight as we made some dust in the desert.

The X-Mods got things off to a good start tonight as they went 25 laps with a full field of 22 cars. The 82of Sherman Barnett would lead early but the x15 of Rick Hall was right on him. The 3H of Noah Hollingshead was on a move early as he would dart into second after only 3 laps. With 5 complete the first caution flew but it didn’t matter to the 82 because he would shoot out ahead again. With 18 to go the 82 would be pulling from the field but around all alone up front! The 3H now leads as the yellow flies for the 82 spinning. The 3H would look to get away but after a few more attempts at a restart the 9 of Jammin' Jimmy Ray would lawn dart his way into second over the 7C of Carney. The 07 of Donovan Flores put on a heater with 14 to go and would steal third and second as he charged down the backstretch. The 07 would start to close in but another yellow would bunch the field up. With 10 ion and 10 to go the 52tx of Paddy Rush was into 4th after starting 15th! With 9 to go there would be a caution and then another with 8 to go and after that it was time to cut some laps because the field just couldn’t keep it straight. Only 3 left on the ticker now and the 3H away again. Flores would go to work on his bumper but nothing would stick and coming to the checkered through turn 3 the 07 would spin all alone!! We stay green as the leader took the checkered and it was the 3H of Noah Hollingshead taking a big win tonight! The 93 of Gorham would ride it home into second after a strong drive through the pack with the 52tx Paddy Rush in third right there with him.

The 42 of Dryer would lead the opening lap in USRA Sun Valley Street Stocks but the 21z of Martin Robinson wasn’t having that for long because into turn 3, there is the hole and there goes the 21z to the lead! After 5 of 15 the 21z was starting to pull from the 10 of John Diamond. With 7 to go the leaders where getting ahead but the first caution in this one would fly. This restart would show the 10 holding onto the bumper of the 21z a little better but Martin Robinson was not to be denied. As the checkered flag waved the 21z of Martin Robinson put on a fantastic show and took the boys to school to put the 21z back in victory lane for the 3rd time in a row. The 10 of John Diamond ran second most the night just never could quite get to the bumper of the 21z and second will have to do. The 11 of Cliff Everage with a great charge to finish out the podium.

The Shaw trucking Southwest Late Models would keep things interesting tonight as they always do! On the start the pole sitter 654 would collect the G17 of Fito Gallardo and both would have to go to the tail! That left the 24x of Xavier Ortega on the pole with Jake Gallardo to his outside. The 22 of Jonathan Ortega would rocket to the lead to lead lap one but the J17 of Jake Gallardo wouldn’t give up that easy as he was right in his door to lead lap 2! The 744 of Logston into third and hugging the leaders tight. Only 5 in and the G17 already back inside the top 5! A yellow flag would fly with the J17 of Jake Gallardo leading the 22, 24x, 744, and G17. Fito Gallardo would dart into third on the restart making it Gallardo, Ortega, Gallardo, Ortega top 4. Here comes the 744 back into 4th over the 24x like lightning. The 22looked low on the J17 and nothing would stick but it finally came around and to the lead with 12 to go. The 22 would be away on the restart as the J17 fought of his dad in G17. The 22 was pulling from the field with 5 to go but major issues from the J17 as half of Jake's car is engulfed in flames! The J17 able to get it pulled into the infield and the track crew gets the fire out quickly but what a scary one there. The next 5 laps would be fast and furious as the 22 held off a hard charging G17 and 744 for the third 4th win in a row as he clean sweeps two weekends in a row! The G17 of Fito Gallardo second and the 744 of Logston will be 3rd.

Claimers where up next. If you’re looking to get into racing then this is the –place to start. The 24 of Shane McNutt would have the get up and go on this one to take the lead but it wouldn’t finish that was as things got hairy all the way around. The 05 of Aasa Flores would jump into second and start chasing that 24 down with 8 to go. A caution with 7 to go would pull the field back together but quick restart and away again. The 24 and 05 would head away from the field but as they came to the white flag the 05 would finally make his move as he lawn darted underneath the 24 for the lead! The 05 would take the white in first but not for long because the 24 was back underneath him in the same fashion in turn one and the lead was his! The 24 gets a little high coming into turn 3 and the 05 slams into his side! Both cars go around but before they can get 'em re-fired the yellow will come out. It’s a green and white on this on as the field has one lap, one shot to get the win. The 13 of Jannah Gibson was now on the pole with all the pressures of one lap left. The 24 and 05 would slingshot to the outside of the pack on the restart but the 24 would go around ad the 05 would go straight to the front. The 05 of Aasa Flores took the win and the 13 of Jannah Gibson getting a close second! The 30T of Breezy Telles gets third after a tough night early on.

Sprint cars time!! Border International Truck 305 Winged Sprint cars have been geared up and ready to roll all night and its finally time. The 77c of CJ Hulsey would get on the pole and never leave that position but it was a wild one behind him as the bottom came in hot. With 9 in and 16 to go the 4 of Dylan Harris, the 65 of Richard Wilbee and the 19 of Wes Wofford all battling neck and neck for third! The 65 chops the 4 and the 4 skyrockets into the outside! Short end of the stick for the 19 and the 4 as the 4 pulls it into the infield and the 19 is stopped in turn 2 backwards. Both drivers return to the pack but very back is were they will be. On the restart the 77c of Hulsey would get away again but this time it was the 18 of Lorne Wofford moving into second after going 3 wide! The 22 of Justin Faster Lassiter was also on the move as he grabbed a gear and stole away third on the bumper of the 18! With 11 to go the 77C was no doubt getting after it but the 18 closing just enough as lappers where getting closer and closer to being a factor. Only 8 circuits left and the 40x of Don Grabble was locked and loaded on the bottom line to get his way into third right behind Lorne Wofford. Caution with 5 to go would cost the 77C a few lengths as he was on the gas. The 99.5 of Derek Demartino had been up in the front all night long as well and on the restart it was Demar into third over Donkey Don!! With 3 to go the 49 would spin and the field would have one more shot at the 77c. The 131 of Royal Jones was already back into the top 5 after that early spin! Single file restart with only 3 laps left and the 77c making it look easy as the 18 gives it everything he’s got to hold off the 40x. Wont quite work tonight though as the 40x bottoms his way into second with 2 to go. The 77C was way up but as they come into turn 3 for the last time, Don Grabble was there if CJ bobbled! CJ Hulsey with a clean and smooth, fast and easy race tonight though as he gets his first win at Southern New Mexico Speedway! The 40x of Don Grabble needed 1 more lap to get the trick done but it wasn’t in the cards tonight as second will have to do. Lorne Wofford ran a solid race on the outside and made things fun as he crossed the line for a third place finish. The 99.5 of Derek Demartino holds onto a spectacular 4th as he holds off a charging 131 of Royal Jones who had a bumper full of Wes Wofford in sixth.

Tonight was yet another great night of Racing at Southern New Mexico Speedway and if you missed it then don’t make the same mistake next weekend because we got something special in store for you. Fireworks that is! The best fireworks show in Southern New Mexico will be here next weekend as well as the best racing. Gates open at 5:30 with racing at 7:45 but you better be early because this show is gonna be epic.
